Val Vestino, a fascinating mountainous area located between Lake Garda and Lake Idro, is a paradise for those who love Nature, Sport and Tranquility. The Borgo di Cima Rest is characterized by very peculiar barns with steeply sloping roofs made using cereal stalks.
They currently represent the only known example of a thatched-roof building still present in Lombardy: they are witnesses of the Austro-Hungarian rural tradition, converted into accommodation facilities where tourists, in search of peace and freedom, find special hospitality for a holiday … fairytale!
The Valley, which administratively belongs to the municipalities of Magasa and Valvestino, is a territory of great naturalistic value, located in the green heart of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park.
Its history, linked to the fate of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1915, the year of occupation by the Italian army, makes it a unique territory, different from the neighboring contexts.
Admire the mountains, listen to the roar of the streams and walk among centuries-old beech trees and verdant pastures from which you can enjoy breathtaking views.
A holiday in Valvestino, or a simple excursion, will allow you to recharge and rediscover renewed well-being.
The Val Vestino area is able to offer tourists a wide choice of sports in contact with nature. The environment offers opportunities for recreation for lovers of trekking and mountain biking. Perfect destination for itineraries of all kinds: from fairy-tale walks in the woods suitable for young and old, to excursions for experts; from nature trails to historical ones.
Along the path that leads to the Tombea and Caplone mountains, the scene of the battles in the First World War, you will come across ancient military deposits dug into the rock, trenches and strategic positions built in masonry or dug into the ground, as well as the remains of the mountain station of a cableway.
Absolutely not to be missed are the “Starlight Evenings” at the Cima Rest Astronomical Observatory: the Valley, free from atmospheric and light pollution, allows you to observe celestial bodies in ideal situations.
“Memory is the treasure and guardian of all things” said Cicero.
A visit to Val Vestino, through the precious local museums, also turns into an evocative journey back in time, reliving the crafts of the past.
